Zerlegt und Verspielt / solarCity

Artistic stimuli for a playful reinterpretation and reutilization of public, vacant space
Linz Stadt Public intervention

zerlegt und verspielt (Playfully analyzed) develops possibilities for shaping recreational time outside the residential areas in the festival district and tries to extend the functions of the city’s margin as a residential place. Artists invited by the curator, Doris Prlic, will engage with residents’ recreational time and the residential complex’s open spaces in the form of installed and performing sound-works and by means of actions in public space. A majority of the works will be developed by groups. After all, together you can play better than alone. The venues for the program are inner courtyards, lawns, parking lots as well as hidden and unused spaces. Possible uses and the attractiveness of vacant spaces will be fathomed. Which vacant spaces were planned when the residential estates were constructed? Are these vacant spaces being used by residents? At which locations on the estates do we find unexpected, unplanned room for play?

bicycletron

In a large field in solarCity, Leo Peschta and Gordan Savièic will organize an imitation of the computer game Tron by means of bicycles, safety belts and poles. In this way the computer game will be made physically experienceable outdoors.

Urlaubsabend

An evening on Weikerl Lake in solarCity dealing with ambivalent vacation experiences. After an extended picnic on Weikerl Lake, two performance lectures will take place: Daniel Ladnar and Esther Pilkington will present the Sunny Beach Project, and Stephanie Mold will speak on her current travel projects at Hello SolarCity Hello World.

Kleinste gemeinsame Teiler - KGT

On the first floor of the Pichling Citizens' Centre there is a model of solarCity. Around this location, the artists' group ekw14,90 will spin many tales that can be called up as radio plays. In line with classic film genres, they will produce several fictitious radio plays in which solarCity serves as the scene of action.

STOP erwünschte Anpassungsleistung

The performance artist, Johanna Kirsch, will set up camp for two days on Weikerl Lake in the Traun meadow. There she will work on banners with messages which, beyond the period of her stay, will gradually populate the trees on the meadow.

Story tailors

Clothes of the residents of solarCity will be gathered on location by Anna Hilti, Stefanie Thöny and Anita Zumbühl. From the finds they will produce a collection that engages with the social environment. The staging of this collection will be carried out in collaboration with interested residents of solarCity in a playful way. The process of making is to be made accessible to the public in the form of an open studio.
