Artistic stimuli for a playful reinterpretation and reutilization of public, vacant spaceLinz Stadt Public intervention

zerlegt und verspielt (Playfully analyzed) develops possibilities for shaping recreational time outside the residential areas in the festival district and tries to extend the functions of the city’s margin as a residential place. Artists invited by the curator, Doris Prlic, will engage with residents’ recreational time and the residential complex’s open spaces in the form of installed and performing sound-works and by means of actions in public space. A majority of the works will be developed by groups. After all, together you can play better than alone. The venues for the program are inner courtyards, lawns, parking lots as well as hidden and unused spaces. Possible uses and the attractiveness of vacant spaces will be fathomed. Which vacant spaces were planned when the residential estates were constructed? Are these vacant spaces being used by residents? At which locations on the estates do we find unexpected, unplanned room for play?

Projects:
Dekodierung der Wirklichkeit Jakob Dietrich and Kai Maier-Rothe engage with the central square in the so-called Kreisky Estate. The site in the new part of Auwiesen, which today is almost completely abandoned, will be investigated by means of interviews with those living adjacent to the square. The interviews will be available as a sound installation on the 'island' in the middle of the square.
Improvisationskonzert mit Orgelpfeife
A six metre long organ pipe developed by Reinhard Gupfinger which produces deep bass tones will be set up in the Auwiesen Climbing Hall. At a musical performance, members of the women's ensemble of the Auwiesen parish will improvise to the accompaniment of the musical instrument.
sight seeing Five striking recreational locations in Auwiesen will be recorded by Clemens Mairhofer, Lucas Norer and Sebastian Six and the sound tracks produced from them presented during the course of a live performance. The sequence of the composition will be structured and affected by balloons rising from each of the locations.
Parkplatzkonzert IFEK (Institute for Extended Art) is organizing in collaboration with Linz09 Good Night Stuff and Radio FRO a concert evening on a parking lot in Auwiesen. Instead of listening to the music over a public address system on stage, the concert-goers will hear the music on car radios. So that concert-goers without a car will be able to take part, car owners will be called on to open their car doors. LIVE: Las Venus, Kania Tieffer...
