Democracy and welfare for all
Workshop and performance about Fortress EuropeLinz Stadt Social intervention

Martin Krenn intermeshes art and political activism. His projects are dedicated mainly to anti-racism, the work of remembering and commemoration, as well as to various campaigns around residential rights, asylum and immigration. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and together with members of the social committee of the Auwiesen parish and other collaborators, Krenn dedicates himself to the promises of freedom and welfare of Western capitalism. Since the ruptures of 1989, these promises accompany the upheavals in eastern and southern Europe and their fulfilment, now also in the West, has become uncertain. Whereas the social and economic development in the countries of eastern Europe continues to run precariously, sealing-off, discrimination and exclusion in Western countries remain reality. Democracy and Welfare for All will try to draw residents' attention to these questions in the public domain by means of activist performance. Parallel to working out a group performance, a photo version of the project will be developed and put on posters.
