Linz Acropolis

The artist is relying on assistance from residents

Frank Bölter is building an Acropolis made of cardboard for Auwiesen and is relying on assistance from residents, particularly youths, in the suburb. On a 1:3 scale, from more than 4000 parts a replica of the ancient monument will come about. The call to the residents to help build the new, absurd, temporary landmark next to the Mühlbach together with the artist offers the opportunity of experiencing the immediate surroundings differently in joint action. After completing the construction work and the appropriate celebrations, the fragile construction, like its ancient original, will be exposed to the effects of wind and weather, and thus to slow decay. In the end, a ruin made of paper will mark the conceivably strongest opposite extreme to the planned and well-kept satellite town.
