Johanna Kirsch's work in performance, installation, media and drawing continually circles around movement, transgressing borders and feminist empowerment. She appropriately calls her hike for the Festival of Regions a "technique for empowerment and for the generation of idiosyncratic sense". Following an arbitrary straight line on the map, she leaves the expressway at the St. Pankraz service station and makes her way for several days alone through the countryside. Her calculated breaking out from prepared paths becomes an individual expedition which she documents like a researcher.
